Flowers For A Funeral

I did this arrangement for a funeral. There are 2 dozen roses, 23 carnations (yes I used carnations), 10 spider mums, and a bunch of asters. The container is a mache pot, ideal for sitting outside.

Arrangement #3, Autumn Themed

Ok, so I haven't done arrangements as often as I'd like. I guess funds haven't been booming and the freeway construction discourages my trip to the wholesaler. But on Saturday I really wanted a Halloween-ish arrangement. My sister got one from Costco, so I went there to get the same one. Some of the flowers weren't looking so good and for the money I would pay, I decided I'd rather pick out my own flowers, so that's what I did! Here are the 3 arrangements I came up with. More Autumn then Halloween, but still in line with the season.

Hopefully my next arrangement(s) won't make it's debut too long after this one! And remember, if you'd like to purchase any of the arrangements I've done, or any arrangements for that fact, let me know!!!

Assigned Seating

If you are having a sit down meal, then you might want to consider seating assignments. There are 2 ways to go about this. You could assign individual people to specific tables or reserve a handful of tables for family. It's up to you, you're the only one who knows how you want things and what details are important to you.

INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENTS
There are A LOT of creative ways you could assign individuals to a table, so get creative! One thing to keep in mind if you do individual assignments, is that you want to keep it as easy and simple as possible. It can be stressful and time consuming to put table assignments together. You have to consider the people and who will work sitting together. A lot of times it causes confusion and congestion when everyone is looking for their name or table. Be sure to figure out a way to avoid the mess. Doing individual assignments can take up a lot more time and money, so if you're looking to splurge, this is the way to go!

RESERVED TABLES
This is simple and easy! You don't have to worry about where to put people and who to put together. Just reserve the number of tables needed for family members. Then they can sit by who they want and there won't be any possibility of confusion or congestion looking for their assignments. Be sure to inform family that they will be sitting at the reserved tables. This is also a great way to cut costs.

So in conclusion, just be sure to weigh all the options and pick which one works best for you!

A New Favorite

I've always like Lisianthus, enough that I used them in my wedding. I bought them to use for a baby shower and I really fell in love with them. They are such a soft, elegant flower. They are gorgeous, especially when they fully bloom! So they are definitely added to my list of favorite flowers!

Sarah's Baby Shower

This past week I hosted a baby shower for my friend. I spent weeks planning and preparing for the event. Here are the results!

It was a Goodnight Moon Theme, based off the children's book. I got the idea from thebump.com. I made a few modifications of my own.

Arrangement #2

I know it has been longer then I hoped, but at least I've beaten my maximum time limit. I made the 2nd arrangement before the month mark. Like I said before, I'll do it as funds allow. It just so happens that I did 4 arrangements this time and it was for my friend's baby shower. So here they are.

Guest Book

Nowadays, there are a lot of creative ways to do a guest book. You also have the option not to do one at all. Like a wedding video, a guest book can be an extra cost. It just depends what's most important to you.

The word on the street is that you'll rarely look through your guest book, if ever. They kind of remind me of a year book, unless it's a good friend writing in it, you get the basic "congratulations".

They are also an additional cost and can be cause for congestion at the entrance. A guest book is just something for you to consider. Remember it's your wedding and you have your priorities.

That Perfect Skin Color

If you're getting married in the winter or just want to make your skin golden for the occassion, then you might want to consider going tanning. I know it's not the greatest thing for your skin, but if you only do it a few times and don't get burned, then you should be fine.

Tips For Tanning
  • The 1st couple times you go, tan for less time then you think. You don't want to burn!
  • Only go 2 times a week, 3 at the most.
  • Don't EVER go 2 days in a row. Space your tanning visits out!
  • You don't want to get TOO tan, so don't go too much. You don't want to look out of place for the season!
  • When you have photos or the wedding coming up, go at least 48 hours before the event. This is a cushion in case you do burn. I highly suggest going 72 hours before the event though!

Putting On Your Face

Just like your hair do, you want to experiment and practice with your makeup beforehand! You, a friend, or even a professional can do it. You just want to make sure that YOU like it! You still want to look like yourself in your photos and on your wedding day. Don't let yourself or someone else get carried away. You don't want that makeup to turn into clown paint and you don't want your beautiful face to look like a clown.

Here is my suggestion for you; as far as makeup goes. If you like makeup and you like doing your makeup, then do your own! You know what you like and what looks good. You probably even have a system down of how you do it. If you do end up doing your own makeup, just do it the same as you always do, but a little darker. More eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush, and lipstick. That's what I did and it turned out just how I wanted it to, while also saving me money!

If you don't really care for makeup or don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, then have someone else do it. Just make sure that you feel comfortable with how they did your makeup and how you look. Remember, it's YOUR day!

Weekly Arrangement

I'm starting something new for my little business! I'm excited about it, because I get to do floral arrangements. So here's the deal.

Each week, if funds allow, I will do a floral arrangement. If I'm unable to do it each week, I will shoot for every other week and AT LEAST once a month. I will do the arrangements on Saturday. My goal is to make each arrangement different using a variety of styles.

I will also be selling the arrangements, so if you are interested in buying one, LET ME KNOW!!! The prices will vary depending on the arrangement. But if you have a request; such as style, type of flowers, price range, ect. don't hesitate to tell me!

Arrangement #1

Who Says You Need A Videographer?

A videographer is something else to consider when it comes to your wedding. Everyone has their preference for whether or not they'd like one at their wedding, but here are a few things to consider before making that final decision.
  • They're pretty pricey. Do you want to spend a good chunk of money on a videographer or would you rather spend that money on something else that is more important to you (dress, invitations, food, etc.)?
  • A video of your wedding pretty much captures everything that photos do. So you're pretty much paying double for 2 of the same thing.
  • When you have a videographer, less photos are taken. This is because the photographer isn't going to stand in front of the video camera, therefore they have less opportunity for taking pictures.
  • Most people don't watch their video of their wedding. It usually just sits on the shelf, collecting dust. If that's the case, then that was money ill spent.
So seriously consider these things and the importance of a wedding day video to you before you make your decision. It may be really important to you and you may watch it often. Only you can make that decision!

Gift Registration

This can either be a fun experience or a dreaded one! A great way to go about it, is to print the master list at Bed Bath and Beyond's website. They have everything listed that you could ever imagine. From there, check off all the things you need and want. Then make a list of all the items you ALREADY own. Compare the 2 lists to eliminate items that you need to register for.

Now that you have a list of all the things you want and need, go have fun and look up those items on different websites! Bed Bath and Beyond (B3), Target, Pottery Barn, IKEA, etc. This way when you go to the stores, you already have an idea of what you're going to register for. You may like silverware from Target, but want to get your dinnerware from B3, and that's all good, because you can register at more then one store. Actually, it's the norm to register at 2 or more stores.

A Dyson vacuum or Kitchen Aid mixer may be on your wish list, but you probably won't put it on your registry, because you don't think there is ANY way someone will get that for you. Put it on your registry anyway! You might be surprised. If people go in on a group gift, the vacuum or mixer could be that gift! I wouldn't have my Dyson or Kitchen Aid if I hadn't put them on our registry. We didn't think we'd get those, but we were pleasantly surprised! We got both as a result of a group gift. It was awesome to get those! SO, don't underestimate people, register for those wish list gifts!
