Throwing A Shower - Step 5

The next step in the shower throwing process can be really simple or complicated. Well not complicated, but time-investing and creative. It's the activity portion. You can skip the activities and your job becomes much easier. Or you can do simple activities, like asking the fiance questions and having the bride answer what she thinks he said. I'll list some ideas for both bridal and baby showers at the end of the post. And lastly, you could do more thought-out, detailed activities.

Some people don't like activities and find them cheesey. I have to say.....I'm not the biggest fan of activities, but if you have the right ones then they can be a lot of fun! Activities also mean additional cost. Like the food, you can ask friends to help with the activities. You can have them pick the activity(s) or assign them an activity, then have them put it together. Either way, it will make things easier and less pricey for you if you choose to enlist the help of your friends.

Bridal Shower Activities:
  • Ask the fiance questions and have the bride answer what she thinks her fiance said. For every question she answers wrong, have her put a piece of gum in her mouth and chew it. She can't swallow it or spit it out. OR you could buy a bunch of small gifts off her registry and for every question she gets right, she gets to pick a gift.
  • Have the bride's fiance and a few of his friends come for this next one. But before she sees them blindfold her. Have her feel a body part of each guy and have her identify which one is her fiance (ear, hand, butt, etc.). It's pretty funny!
  • Have a dozen roses (really 11) in a vase. Ask the fiance the top 12 things he loves about the bride. Tie 1 thing he said to each rose. Read each rose starting with #12, then give it to the bride. When you get to rose #1, have the fiance walk in holding the last rose! You have to be sneaky with this one so the bride doesn't know he's there. It's an "awwww" activity!
  • If you have the fiance there, then you should do this next one as well. Have the bride and her fiance sit back-to-back. Give each of them a bride and groom sign. Ask questions to figure out who will take care of what responsibilities. Ex. : "who will pay the bills?" "who will be the cleanest?" and etc. The bride and her fiance want to answer the same. It's fun to see how they answer.
Baby Shower:
  • Put melted candy bars in diapers. Number the diapers and have the guests determine what candy bar is in each diaper. Give the person with the most correct a prize.
  • Print out a sheet of nursery rhyme lines. Have a word or 2 missing and have the guests fill in the blanks the best they can. Whoever has the most correct gets a prize.
  • Fill a waste basket or some other container with a bunch of diapers. Have everyone guess how many are in there. The person with the closest guess, gets a prize.
  • Have each guest cut a piece of thread resembling how big they think the prego friend's tummy is. Whoever is the closest to the actual size gets the prize!
These are just a few ideas, there are A LOT more out there. You can Google activities or be creative and come up with your own! Good luck and have fun!

This was me at my bridal shower; mouth full of bubble gum. It was the 1st activity I listed.
