How To Clue Your Man In

There are many ways that the ring selection process is pursued. You and your boyfriend may go together, you may go with a friend/family member, or he may completely surprise you! I'm sure there are other ways to go about the process, but these are the common scenarios. That's why it's important for you to know what you ACTUALLY like! Read the previous post for more about that! So for those of you that don't go with your love and he doesn't ask you, drop him some hints of what you like.

When you're watching TV/movie, looking through a magazine/website, or see someone else's ring that looks a lot like "The One" you like, say "Ooooo.....that ring is soooo pretty, I love it!" Don't worry, you won't be too obvious; the way guys are he might not even catch it. Plus if a wedding is a current topic, then it won't stick out like a sore thumb.

You don't want any unwanted surprises! You want to love and be happy with the ring you get! And if he loves you and wants his money to be well spent, then he'll feel the same way too! So if you're worried that you might not get what you want, don't be afraid to straight-up tell him what you like. I know, I know, we as women LOVE surprises! But it's better to NOT have a surprise then an unwanted surprise! Believe me, he will still find a way to surprise you!

I didn't think I would be surprised but I was. I had picked out the ring and went with my husband to purchase them (the band and diamond were bought separately). I also knew that he had asked my dad for permission. So I knew it had to be coming soon. He was tricky though. Ok, here's the story.

We went to dinner with some of his friends in Sandy. I drove, so on the way home I dropped him off. It was a Tuesday night and he had work early the next morning, so I didn't think anything of the 9 o'clock hour. I got home and my mom asked me to come upstairs. She asked how my day was and I divulged the details to her. Then she told me I had a package in my room. I had been getting brochures and such from venues so I thought it was something like that. As I walked down the stairs it smelt like candles. I just figured that my mom had lit one in my room. I opened my bedroom door to find it filled with candles and roses. In the middle of the floor was a letter from my honey.

As I read it I wondered if he was going to be there. I had just dropped him off at his place; how could he have made here so quickly?! But as I read the letter I could hear him outside the door that led to the yard. Sure enough, he was out there waiting. We walked up the candle-lit path around to the back where he proceeded to confess his love for me and ask my hand in marriage. I was completely surprised! I wasn't expecting it until at least Saturday and it was Tuesday.

So the lesson of my story; guys still have it in them to surprise you even if you think they don't!

Remember give him a hint of the type of Frosting you like!

The Bling!

The ring could be considered the most important and significant part of the whole wedding process. You know when you get that sparkler on your finger you can't wait to show it off! And even better, when complete strangers notice your bling bling because it's blinding them! I have a couple of tips when it comes to the icing placed upon that beloved ring finger.

1st
Ladies be open to the possibility that the ring you've dreamed of and imagined your whole life might NOT be the one you fall in love with! You may see a ring in a catalog or on someone else's finger and fall in love with it, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll love it on your finger. SO....try on all sorts of rings. Thick band, thin band, 1 band, multiple bands, pave, and the list goes on and on and on. There are so many different styles of rings out there now! Try different cuts of diamonds. Round, princess, oval, pear, marquise, heart, emerald, asscher, radiant.

2nd
Now in your search for the perfect bling, don't just shop at one or two stores. Go to multiple! If you think you've found the one, just be sure by going to other stores. Let me tell you a little story. While shopping for my ring I thought I knew exactly what I wanted. 2-3 pave diamond bands with one nice sparkler to top it off. Well I tried on ring after ring in that style and I wasn't feeling it. Then I came across a ring that looked like 4 pave bands criss-crossed, but really one band with the diamond in the middle (the ring pictured at the top of the blog). I fell in love with it. And I knew it was the one when we went to other stores and ALL I could think about was that other ring.

Well those are my "couple" of ring tips for now. I have a couple more, but I'll just leave you with these thoughts for the moment. Keep tuning in to find out more tips to finding your perfect bling!
